| Trip Description Located on Florida's Bend Bend coast, Ochlockonee Bay is the confluence of the Ochlockonee and Sopchoppy Rives. It is a nice sheltered bay, though sometimes windy and tidal. Launch at the boat ramp on the south shore of the bay after crossing the the U.S. 98 bridge westbound. Eastbound traffic will turn left before crossing the bridge. A nice sandy beach allows easy access to the bay. My favorite trip is to paddle out to Bald Point and back. Distance - round trip about six miles. Bald Point is on the Gulf of Mexico with dunes and little development. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has developed a park at Bald Point which can also serve as a launching point into the bay or Gulf. The park is located off of County Road 370 North.
