Manatee Springs State Park - Suwannee River

Located on the bank of the historic Suwannee River, Manatee Springs State Park is one of Florida's premier parks. Manatee Spring is a first magnitude spring pumping 117 million gallons of crystal clear water into the Suwannee River daily.

Directions: Manatee Springs State Park is located at the end of S.R. 320, off U.S. 98, six miles west of Chiefland.

Hours of Operation :Florida state parks are open from 8 a.m. until sundown 365 days a year.

Wildlife : Manatees are the namesakes of this park. They can be seen throughout the year, however, are more abundant from November through April. Manatees are best viewed from the boardwalk along the spring run and the observation deck over the Suwannee River. Sharing the river with the manatees are other Florida favorites like alligators, bald eagles, river otters and cypress trees

Trip Description: Just west of Chiefland, Fl, Manatee Springs State Park is great for short day trips. A short paddle down the spring run to the Suwannee River where manatees often are found.  Heavy boat traffic is common, but the part of the river and wide and one can still enjoy paddling near the banks of the river.

Launch SiteLaunch site: The park has an excellent launch site for paddle craft and ample parking.
